Owlet Care — The smart baby monitoring app by Owlet Baby Care, Inc. for Smart Sock 3, Smart Sock Plus, Owlet Cam, and Cam 2. Track your baby's heart rate, oxygen levels, and sleep patterns in real-time. HD video streaming with night vision, two-way audio, and smart notifications for complete peace of mind.
Owlet Care is the legacy companion app from Owlet Baby Care, Inc. that connects to Owlet's smart nursery products including Smart Sock 3, Smart Sock Plus, Owlet Cam, and Owlet Cam 2. It lets you monitor your baby's heart rate, oxygen levels, and sleep patterns in real-time, and stream HD video from the Owlet Cam.
Owlet Care is the legacy app for older products (Smart Sock 3, Smart Sock Plus, Owlet Cam, Cam 2), while Owlet Dream is the current app for the FDA-cleared Dream Sock and newer Dream Duo. Dream also offers the Owlet360 premium subscription with daily summaries and weekly trends. In the U.S. and Canada, Owlet is actively shifting users to the Dream app.
Owlet Care supports Smart Sock 3, Smart Sock Plus, Owlet Cam, and Owlet Cam 2. Note that Owlet Cam 2 will not receive new features unless paired with the Dream app. If you have the medically-certified Dream Sock or Dream Duo, you must use the Owlet Dream app instead.
Yes, the Owlet Care app is completely free to download and use. There are no subscription fees or in-app purchases within the Care app itself. All monitoring features including live vitals tracking, sleep history, and camera streaming are included at no extra cost. The paid Owlet360 subscription is only available in the separate Owlet Dream app.
In the U.S. and Canada, Owlet has been transitioning users to the Dream app. New users who never previously downloaded the Care app may not be able to access it on the App Store. Users who already had it installed on Apple devices can re-download it through their Apple ID. The Google Play version remains available. Outside the U.S./Canada, the Care app is still available normally.
No. Owlet explicitly states that its Care app and associated legacy products are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. They should not be used as a substitute for the care and oversight of an adult caregiver. The newer Dream Sock, managed through the separate Dream app, does hold FDA clearance for pulse oximetry.
The Owlet Cam works with Amazon Alexa, allowing you to view the live camera feed on Echo Show or other Alexa-enabled displays. Google Home integration is not officially supported at this time.
In the U.S. and Canada, Owlet offers a conversion option that allows Smart Sock 3 users to upgrade to Dream Sock functionality through the Dream app. However, this is a one-way conversion — once converted, the sock can no longer connect to the Care app and the change cannot be reversed.
According to the Google Play listing, Owlet states that the app shares no data with third parties, encrypts data in transit, and allows users to request data deletion. The app may collect location data, personal information, health and fitness data, and usage data linked to your identity.
Common troubleshooting steps include: ensuring your phone and Owlet devices are on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, force-closing and reopening the app, checking for app updates, restarting your phone and Owlet device, and reinstalling the app if needed. If camera connectivity issues persist, check your Wi-Fi signal strength near the camera.
We've used the sock and app for a couple of years now and it's useful. What I would love to see is a non-urgent alert when oxygen sats drop below a certain customizable level. The automatic siren works well for critical drops below 80, but a gentler second-tier alert would be great for monitoring my daughter who has large tonsils.
The Owlet sock in itself is literally and figuratively a lifesaver. I feel so comfortable sleeping knowing that my daughter is being monitored and I will be alerted if any problems arise. It's been so useful to alleviate my stress when she's been sick, and when she started rolling. I also feel a lot more confident letting her sleep in a separate room.
Absolutely love the Owlet sock for the peace of mind it gives us. The app shows all the vital stats clearly and the sleep history feature is really helpful for tracking patterns. The camera quality is decent with good night vision. Only downside is the app can be a bit slow to load stats sometimes, but overall a great product.
As a first-time parent, the Owlet Care app has been invaluable. Being able to check my baby's oxygen levels and heart rate from my phone while she sleeps gives incredible peace of mind. The notification system works reliably and the sleep tracking data has helped us establish a better bedtime routine.
The concept is brilliant and the data the sock provides is genuinely reassuring. However, the app itself could use some improvement — it takes about 10 seconds to load sometimes, and the navigation isn't always intuitive. The camera stream occasionally disconnects but reconnects fairly quickly. Hardware is excellent, app needs work.
This app paired with the Owlet sock has given me the best sleep since becoming a parent. I can glance at my phone and see that my baby's oxygen and heart rate are perfectly normal. The alerts have never given me a false alarm and the sleep data is fascinating to review each morning.
Great monitoring app that works reliably with the Smart Sock 3. The real-time oxygen and heart rate readings are easy to read, and I appreciate the sleep pattern history feature. The cam integration works well too — night vision is clear and two-way audio comes in handy. Would give 5 stars if the app loaded a bit faster.
Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone. My baby had RSV at 3 months and the Owlet sock helped me monitor her oxygen levels throughout her recovery. The app clearly displays all the readings and the notification history is very helpful for sharing information with our pediatrician.
Solid baby monitoring solution. The sock readings are consistent and the app presents the data in a clean, easy-to-understand format. Camera quality through the app is good with smooth streaming. My only complaint is that the app occasionally needs to be force-closed and reopened when it hangs, but this doesn't happen often.
As a pediatric nurse, I appreciate what Owlet is trying to do. The vital sign tracking is helpful for parents who want extra monitoring. The app interface is clean and the data presentation is decent. Keep in mind this isn't a medical device though — use it as a supplement to normal baby monitoring, not a replacement.
Owlet Care is the legacy companion app developed by Owlet Baby Care, Inc. for parents and caregivers who use Owlet's smart nursery monitoring products. Designed to work with the Smart Sock 3, Smart Sock Plus, Owlet Cam, and Owlet Cam 2, the Owlet Care app lets you connect to and stream your Owlet devices from anywhere, giving you real-time visibility into your baby's wellbeing. Available on both Google Play (500K+ downloads, rated 4.7/5) and the App Store (rated 4.5/5 with 3.2K ratings), Owlet Care has become a trusted tool for hundreds of thousands of families worldwide.
The app allows parents to view the history of their child's sleep patterns, oxygen level, and heart rate — providing peace of mind during naps, overnight sleep, and whenever you're away from the nursery. When paired with the Owlet Cam or Owlet Cam 2, you also get HD video streaming with night vision, two-way audio, and smart notifications triggered by sound, motion, and cry detection.
Important: Owlet products are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. They should not replace the care and oversight of an adult caregiver. If you own the medically-certified Dream Sock, you will need the separate Owlet Dream app instead.
Owlet's ecosystem includes two companion apps, and choosing the right one depends on your product and region:
| Feature | Owlet Care | Owlet Dream |
|---|---|---|
| Product Role | Legacy companion app for older Owlet products | Current app for Dream Sock, Dream Duo, and newer ecosystem |
| Supported Devices | Smart Sock 3, Smart Sock Plus, Owlet Cam, Owlet Cam 2 | Dream Sock, Dream Duo, Cam 1, Cam 2, Owlet360 |
| Health Data | Non-medical wellness tracking | FDA-cleared pulse oximetry readings |
| Feature Updates | Limited ongoing development | Actively receiving new features and enhancements |
| Subscription | No premium tier | Owlet360 premium subscription available |
| Availability | May be restricted in U.S./Canada for new users | Primary recommended app in U.S./Canada |
Regional Note: In the U.S. and Canada, Owlet has shifted users toward the Dream app for current products. Users who never previously downloaded Care may not be able to access it for Smart Sock-only setups. Outside the U.S. and Canada, existing Care app users are unaffected unless they purchase a Dream Sock.
The Owlet Care app provides real-time monitoring of your baby's heart rate, oxygen saturation levels, and sleep patterns through the Smart Sock sensor. View live readings directly on your smartphone from anywhere with an internet connection, giving you peace of mind whether you're in the next room or away from home.
When connected to the Owlet Cam or Owlet Cam 2, the app delivers 1080p HD live video streaming with automatic infrared night vision. Watch your baby sleep clearly even in complete darkness, with smooth streaming that works on both Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
The built-in two-way talk feature lets you soothe your baby remotely by speaking through the Owlet Cam's speaker. Hear every coo and cry through the app's real-time audio feed, and respond with your voice without entering the nursery.
Receive intelligent push notifications when the Owlet system detects changes in your baby's readings. The app alerts you to unusual oxygen levels and heart rate patterns, while the camera sends notifications for sound detection, motion detection, and cry alerts — ensuring you never miss an important moment.
Review detailed historical data on your child's sleep duration, oxygen levels, and heart rate trends over time. The Owlet Care app presents this data in easy-to-read charts and timelines, helping you identify sleep patterns and understand your baby's wellness trajectory.
The Owlet Cam includes built-in sensors that track room temperature and humidity levels, displayed in the app so you can ensure your baby's nursery environment stays comfortable and safe throughout the night.
