Open the LookCam app and tap the '+' button to add a new device. Make sure your camera is powered on and in setup mode (usually indicated by a blinking LED). Select your Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and follow the on-screen instructions. LookCam supports both AP mode (direct camera-to-phone connection) and QR code scanning methods. The default password for most LookCam-compatible cameras is typically 'admin' or left blank. It is strongly recommended to change this password immediately after setup to prevent unauthorized access. You can change the password in the LookCam app under device settings. Choose a strong password with a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.

If your camera shows 'device offline' in the LookCam app, check the following: 1) Verify the camera is powered on and the indicator light is active. 2) Ensure your Wi-Fi network is working and the camera is within range. 3) Restart both the camera and your router. 4) Check if your internet connection is stable. 5) Try removing the camera from the app and re-adding it. Network changes, power outages, or router resets can cause cameras to go offline.

LookCam offers cloud storage through in-app subscription plans. Plans range from 7-day event recording ($1.99/month) to 120-day all-day recording ($74.99/year). Cloud recordings are accessible from any device logged into your LookCam account. You can also use local SD card storage as a free alternative. Cloud storage provides the advantage of keeping footage safe even if the camera is damaged or stolen.

LookCam encrypts data in transit according to its Google Play data safety listing. However, independent security researchers have raised concerns about the broader P2P camera ecosystem that LookCam connects to, including potential vulnerabilities in device authentication and remote access. To maximize security: change default passwords immediately, keep the app updated, use a strong Wi-Fi password, and avoid placing cameras in sensitive private areas.

To enable auto recording, open the LookCam app and go to your camera's settings. Navigate to the alarm or recording settings section. Enable motion detection recording to automatically save clips when motion is detected. For continuous recording, insert a micro SD card into your camera and enable loop recording in the storage settings. You can also subscribe to a cloud storage plan for automatic cloud-based recording.
