The pan and tilt controls work well and the 4x digital zoom is useful for checking on details. Detection zones cut down false alerts from my window-facing camera significantly. My only complaint is the app interface feels a bit dated compared to competitors. But functionally it does everything I need for basic home monitoring.

Using YI Life to monitor my baby's room. Two-way audio quality is good enough to soothe my daughter from another room. The scheduled recording feature means the camera only records when we are actually asleep, which saves SD card space. Would give 5 stars if the app had a native iPad layout instead of the scaled-up phone interface.

Literally the BEST outdoor camera and app for me. Clear image and most importantly, the connectivity to my home wifi is excellent. My previous camera and regrettably the more expensive one from another known brand turned out to be utter trash. This is way better and the price for the camera is affordable. Good baby monitor alternative. The two-way audio lets me talk to my toddler from work and the live stream loads reliably every time. Night vision is clear in the nursery. I wish the app had person detection to filter out my pet triggering the motion alerts, but the custom detection zone feature helps reduce most false notifications.

Detection sensitivity and alert frequency are fully customizable. If you are receiving too many alerts from routine household activity, lower the sensitivity threshold. You can also set a schedule to restrict detection to specific time periods — for example, only monitoring when everyone is asleep or away from home.

Custom Detection Zones

Not every part of a camera's field of view needs to trigger alerts. YI Life lets you draw custom detection zones directly on the live view, restricting motion alerts to the areas that actually matter.
