Keeping an eye on your home, shop, or office shouldn't require a complicated security system. ULooka is the companion mobile app from Shenzhen Aneka Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. for connecting compatible Wi-Fi smart cameras and video doorbells to your phone — offering live view, playback, motion alerts, two-way voice, device sharing, remote PTZ rotation, and infrared night vision in one simple interface.
What Is ULooka?
ULooka is a free smart camera and smart doorbell companion app available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Developed by Shenzhen Aneka Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., the ULooka app lets you bind compatible Wi-Fi IP cameras and visual doorbells, watch real-time video, review playback from TF (microSD) card, receive motion-triggered push alerts, talk through your device with two-way audio, and share camera access with family members via QR code.
ULooka is positioned for home and small-business surveillance — living rooms, nurseries, entrances, shops, factories, offices, apartments, gardens, and rooms — giving you remote awareness of what matters wherever you are.
Core Features
- Live Remote Monitoring — Stream real-time video from your ULooka camera or doorbell over Wi-Fi or mobile data, from anywhere in the world
- Playback from TF Card — Review recorded history directly from the microSD card installed in your camera (FAT-formatted, up to 32 GB, loop recording)
- Motion Detection Alerts — Get instant push notifications when your device detects movement so you never miss a visitor or unexpected activity
- Two-Way Voice Talk — Speak and listen through your camera or doorbell's built-in microphone and speaker for real-time communication
- Remote PTZ Rotation — Remotely pan and tilt supported cameras for wider room coverage and better visibility
- Infrared Night Vision — Monitor your space clearly in low-light or complete darkness using built-in IR night vision
- QR-Code Device Sharing — Share access with family members by scanning a QR code and assign permission levels
- Photo & Recording Capture — Take snapshots or record clips on demand directly from the live view
- Online Firmware Update — Update device firmware from within the app to get the latest fixes and features
- P2P Password Change — Strengthen security by changing the default camera access password after setup
How ULooka Setup Works
ULooka uses AP / hotspot-based pairing to get your camera or doorbell online. The steps from the official manual are straightforward:
- Download the ULooka app from the App Store or Google Play
- Register a free account with your email or mobile number
- Power on your ULooka camera or doorbell and press the reset button for about 3 seconds until you hear a confirmation sound
- Tap "Add Device" in the ULooka app
- Connect your phone to the device's temporary hotspot (the SSID typically begins with "AL…")
- Return to the app and enter your home Wi-Fi password (2.4 GHz network required)
- Wait until the device shows "Online" — you're ready to view the live feed
Important: ULooka supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Dual-band routers should have the 2.4 GHz band enabled and separated from 5 GHz during setup. The default camera access password after a reset is 8888, and users are advised to change it immediately for security.
Supported Scenarios
ULooka is designed for a broad set of monitoring use cases:
- Home security — Front doors, living rooms, hallways, nurseries and shared spaces
- Small retail and business — Shops, offices, storerooms, warehouses and small factories
- Visual doorbells — Visitor awareness and two-way conversation at the entrance
- Family check-ins — Keep an eye on kids, elderly relatives, or pets during the day
- Rental and short-term spaces — Wireless, non-permanent cameras that are easy to add and remove
Storage and Recording
ULooka's smart cameras record locally to a TF (microSD) card. The official manual specifies FAT format, up to 32 GB capacity, and loop recording that automatically overwrites the earliest video when the card becomes full. There is no built-in requirement for a paid cloud subscription — everything is stored on your own card, giving you full control of your footage. You can review the recorded history from the app's playback view and save or share individual clips.
Privacy, Permissions and Security
The ULooka privacy policy explains why the app requests certain permissions, which is useful context for security-conscious users:
- Location — Used to retrieve the list of nearby Wi-Fi networks during camera setup
- Microphone — Required for two-way voice talk with your camera or doorbell
- Camera — Needed for QR-code based device adding and sharing
- Storage — Used to save snapshots and video clips locally to your phone
- Network / device info — Used for Wi-Fi binding, push notifications and device operation
The policy also states that personal information collected and generated in China is stored within the People's Republic of China, and that third-party push SDKs from Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, VIVO and Meizu may be used for Android notifications.
