Introduction
TrailCam Go is a free mobile app for Wi-Fi and cellular trail cameras, developed by JICHEN TECHNOLOGY CO,LTD (Shenzhen JiChen Technology). With over 100K+ downloads on Google Play and a 4.5 star rating, TrailCam Go has become a popular companion app for trail camera enthusiasts, hunters, and wildlife watchers who want a simple, subscription-free way to manage their cameras from a smartphone.
What Is TrailCam Go?
TrailCam Go is a mobile application designed for connecting to, configuring, and managing compatible Wi-Fi and cellular trail cameras. The app uses Bluetooth for initial camera setup and Wi-Fi for local data transfer, allowing users to quickly configure their trail cameras, preview live video, browse captured media, and download photos and videos directly to their phone — all without a subscription or cloud fees.
TrailCam Go serves as a platform app used by multiple OEM/ODM trail camera hardware partners, meaning it works across a variety of trail camera brands and models that are built on the JiChen Technology platform.
How to Set Up Your Trail Camera
Setting up a trail camera with TrailCam Go is designed to be a one-step process via Bluetooth:
Turn on your trail camera and set it to ON/TEST mode
Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your smartphone
Open the TrailCam Go app and tap to add a new camera
The app discovers your camera via Bluetooth and guides you through the connection process
Once paired, the app establishes a local Wi-Fi connection to the camera for high-speed data transfer. No internet connection is required for Wi-Fi trail camera models.
Live Video Preview and Camera Positioning
One of TrailCam Go's most useful features is live video preview. Before leaving your camera in the field, you can use the live view to:
Technical Specifications

How do I connect my trail camera to the TrailCam Go app?
Turn on your trail camera in ON/TEST mode, enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your phone, open TrailCam Go, and tap to add a new camera. The app will guide you through a Bluetooth-based setup process to connect your camera.
Does TrailCam Go support remote viewing over the internet?
Wi-Fi trail cameras only support local short-range connections (within approximately 30 meters/100 feet). For remote viewing from anywhere, you need a cellular (4G/LTE) trail camera model. The app supports both types.
What trail cameras are compatible with TrailCam Go?
TrailCam Go works with compatible Wi-Fi and cellular trail cameras from various brands that use the JiChen Technology platform. Check your camera's manual or packaging to confirm TrailCam Go compatibility.
Why does my trail camera keep disconnecting from the app?
Trail camera Wi-Fi connections have limited range (about 30 meters). Make sure you're within range, keep Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, and avoid switching to other apps during the session. Restarting both the camera and app can also help.
Can I download photos and videos to my phone?
Yes, you can browse all photos and videos stored on the trail camera's memory card through the app and download them directly to your phone's gallery for viewing, editing, or sharing.
How do I update the firmware on my trail camera?
Open TrailCam Go, connect to your camera, and check for available firmware updates in the camera settings. The app supports OTA (over-the-air) updates that can be installed directly through the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection.
What permissions does TrailCam Go need and why?
TrailCam Go requires Bluetooth (for camera discovery and setup), Wi-Fi (for camera connection), Location (required by the OS for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi scanning), Storage (to save downloaded photos/videos), and Camera (for live view features).

I purchased this little gem for viewing chipmunks, neighborhood cats and squirrels. Trail cam met my expectations and more. Easy setup with clear instructions.
Trail camera delivers game-changing image/video quality—sharp even in low light. Excellent battery life. No subscription required!

Great quality footage with crisp, clear vision day and night. Customer support was quick and helpful resolving night vision setup.

Used app for a year, very pleased. Recent update enlarged thumbnails requiring more scrolling. Icon bounces on every swipe—suggest limiting appearance to once.

Great footage and settings, but connection is unreliable despite proximity. Customer support responsive. Nearly perfect if connectivity improves.

Very impressed with the camera and software. Very intuitive. The written instructions are poor but when you play with the camera and software it's quick to get started. I have mine attached to a camera tripod for ease of changing the placement.

Quick BT connect to phone, then quick wifi connect to phone, THEN blazing fast video download to phone. Amazing trail cam. Highly recommend. Purchased 2 additional. The speed to download and view videos is unsurpassed in all my previous trail cams.

The first set up is a little tricky, but then easy to reconnect. The 120 degree field of view is OK, but 180 would be better. The videos are good, and the mounting strap allows it to be mounted on poles or even large diameter trees.

I have been using this Trail Cam Go app for a couple of years. I have been quite happy with it. But since there was a software update it added bouncing GO animation while accessing the gallery. It is annoying and makes the connection slower.
Google Play
It's good, but the delay between triggering the camera and recording is too long, so you may catch nothing or something already going out of shot. Also when viewing a recording the video playback bar doesn't have the capability to slide back and forth.
Check the camera's field of view and positioning angle
Verify that the detection zone covers the area you want to monitor
Take test photos or record short video clips directly from the app
Adjust camera height and tilt for optimal wildlife capture
This eliminates the guesswork of trail camera placement and helps ensure you capture the footage you want.
Browse and Download Photos and Videos
TrailCam Go provides a built-in media gallery browser that lets you view all photos and videos stored on the trail camera's memory card. Key media features include:
Browse thumbnails of all captured images and videos
Download selected files to your phone's gallery in full resolution
Share captures with friends and family directly from the app
Review footage in the field without removing the SD card
The app uses the Wi-Fi connection for fast file transfers, making it practical to download large video files directly to your phone.
Camera Settings and Configuration
TrailCam Go gives you full control over your trail camera's settings from your smartphone:
Resolution — Choose photo and video quality settings
Sensitivity — Adjust motion sensor sensitivity for your environment
Capture mode — Switch between photo, video, or photo+video modes
Timer settings — Configure delay between triggers
Other parameters — Date/time stamps, camera name, and more
All settings changes are applied wirelessly, so you don't need to physically access the camera's controls.
OTA Firmware Updates
TrailCam Go supports over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, allowing you to keep your trail camera's software up to date without connecting to a computer. When a new firmware version is available, the app will notify you and guide you through the update process via the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection.
Wi-Fi vs Cellular Trail Camera Connectivity
It's important to understand the two connectivity modes supported by TrailCam Go:
Wi-Fi trail cameras — Connect directly from your phone to the camera over a local Wi-Fi network. Range is approximately 30 meters (100 feet). No internet is required, but you must be physically near the camera.
Cellular trail cameras — Use a 4G/LTE cellular connection to transmit data remotely. These cameras require a cellular data plan but allow you to access your camera from anywhere with mobile coverage.
For most users, Wi-Fi models are ideal for cameras you check regularly in person, while cellular models are best for remote locations where you can't visit frequently.

TrailCam Go is designed for anyone who uses a compatible trail camera and wants a free, easy-to-use mobile app for camera management. Typical users include:
Hunters — Scout game trails and feeding areas with wildlife photos and videos
Wildlife enthusiasts — Monitor bird feeders, animal habitats, and nature areas
