Introduction
SmartHome (MSmartHome) is Midea Group's official smart home application, designed to connect, monitor, and control a wide range of household appliances from one of the world's largest home appliance manufacturers. Winner of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2023, SmartHome replaces the older MSmartHome and Midea Air apps with a unified, modern interface that puts full appliance management — from air conditioners and dehumidifiers to washing machines and refrigerators — at your fingertips.
Whether you own a single Midea portable AC or an entire home outfitted with Midea ecosystem appliances, the msmarthome app provides seamless remote control, intelligent automations, energy monitoring, and voice assistant integration — all completely free.
What Is SmartHome (MSmartHome)?
SmartHome is the consumer IoT application developed by AIDEOLOGY (ShenZhen Shuzhi Scene Positioning Technology Co., Ltd.) for Midea Group, a Fortune 500 company and one of the world's largest manufacturers of home appliances. The app serves as the central control hub for Midea's connected appliance ecosystem, supporting products sold under the Midea brand as well as its sub-brands including Pelonis, Comfee, Master Kitchen, Artic King, and MDV.
The midea smart home app consolidates what were previously separate control applications into a single platform. If you previously used MSmartHome or Midea Air, the SmartHome app is the official successor with improved performance, a redesigned UI, and expanded device support.
How SmartHome Works
Setting up a Midea smart appliance with the SmartHome app typically takes just a few minutes. The app supports two primary connection methods:
Wi-Fi pairing (2.4 GHz) — the standard setup method where your appliance connects to your home Wi-Fi network through the app's guided setup wizard
Bluetooth pairing — available on newer appliance models for faster, more reliable initial connection before handing off to Wi-Fi for remote access
Like most IoT devices, Midea smart appliances require a for initial setup. If your router broadcasts a combined SSID, you may need to temporarily split bands or connect to the 2.4 GHz network specifically during pairing.

All features including remote appliance control, voice assistant integration, smart automations, push notifications, energy monitoring, and customizable device cards are available at no cost on both iOS and Android.
What appliances work with SmartHome?
SmartHome supports a wide range of Midea Group connected appliances including air conditioners (window, portable, split, and central), dehumidifiers, heat pumps, fans, vacuum cleaners, ovens, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, and refrigerators. The app works with products from Midea, Pelonis, Comfee, Master Kitchen, Artic King, and MDV. Look for the 'Works with SmartHome' or 'Works with MSmartHome' label on your appliance to confirm compatibility.
Does SmartHome work with Alexa and Google Home?
Yes, SmartHome integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts. After linking your SmartHome account in the Alexa or Google Home app, all your connected Midea appliances become controllable by voice. You can say commands like 'Alexa, set the bedroom AC to 72 degrees' or 'Hey Google, turn off the dehumidifier.' Siri Shortcuts on iOS let you create custom voice commands for specific actions. IFTTT is also supported for advanced automations.
How do I connect my Midea AC to SmartHome?
Open the SmartHome app, tap the '+' button to add a new device, and select your AC model from the list. Put your AC into pairing mode by following the on-screen instructions (usually pressing a specific button combination on the remote or the unit itself until a pairing indicator appears). Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network — 5 GHz is not supported during initial pairing. Follow the in-app wizard to complete the connection. Once paired, you can control the AC from anywhere.
Is MSmartHome the same as SmartHome?
Yes, SmartHome is the current name of what was previously known as MSmartHome. Midea consolidated its separate appliance control apps (MSmartHome and Midea Air) into a single unified application called SmartHome. If you previously used MSmartHome, you should update to the latest SmartHome app version. Your account and paired devices will transfer automatically. The app may still appear as 'SmartHome (MSmartHome)' in some app store listings to help users find it.
Can I control my appliance when away from home?
Yes, SmartHome provides full remote control over the internet. Once your appliance is connected to your home Wi-Fi network and paired with the app, you can control it from anywhere in the world as long as your phone has an internet connection. All commands are sent through Midea's IoT cloud, so you can adjust your AC temperature from the office, start your washing machine while at the grocery store, or check your dehumidifier status from vacation.
Does SmartHome support Apple Watch?
Yes, SmartHome has native Apple Watch support requiring watchOS 9.0 or later. From your Apple Watch, you can view the status of your connected appliances, perform basic controls like turning devices on/off and adjusting temperature, and receive notifications. The app also supports Wear OS 2 or above for Android smartwatch users, providing similar wrist-based control capabilities.
How do I set up automations in SmartHome?
Open the SmartHome app and navigate to the automations section. Tap the '+' button to create a new automation. You can set up time-based schedules (e.g., turn on AC at 6 PM daily), condition-based triggers (e.g., turn on dehumidifier when humidity exceeds a threshold), or create custom scenes that execute multiple commands with one tap. Name your automation, configure the trigger conditions and actions, then save. Automations run automatically in the background.
What brands does SmartHome support?
SmartHome supports connected appliances from Midea Group and all its sub-brands worldwide. These include Midea (the flagship brand), Pelonis (popular in North America for portable ACs and fans), Comfee (air conditioners and dehumidifiers in Europe and North America), Master Kitchen (premium kitchen appliances), Artic King (window and portable ACs), and MDV (commercial and residential HVAC). Any appliance bearing a 'Works with SmartHome' label is compatible.
How do I contact SmartHome support?
You can reach SmartHome customer support by emailing [email protected]. The app also includes a built-in Support Center accessible from the settings menu, which was redesigned in version 3.16.0 with improved help resources. For product-specific issues with your Midea appliance hardware, you may also contact Midea's regional customer service through the official Midea website for your country.

Love my Midea U-shaped AC! The cooling power is impressive and it runs so quietly you barely notice it. Setup with the SmartHome app was straightforward — scanned the QR code, connected to Wi-Fi, and it was ready in minutes. Alexa integration works flawlessly. I can adjust temperature from anywhere now. Best AC purchase I've made.

Easy to use app that connects via WiFi without much hassle. The technical options are great — you can fine-tune fan speed, swing modes, and scheduling with precision. My only concern is the font size in some menus is quite small, which makes it difficult for people with accessibility needs. Otherwise a solid appliance control app.
App Store
Incredibly energy efficient unit and the app makes monitoring consumption a breeze. The AC runs impressively quiet even on higher fan speeds. Cooling performance exceeded my expectations for the room size. Installation was smooth and the app guided me through the WiFi setup step by step. Very happy with this purchase and the SmartHome app experience.
App Store
Managing 3 Midea ACs across my home with this one app. The scheduling feature works great — I have each unit on different schedules for different rooms. Sleep mode is incredibly useful for the bedroom units. My only wish is a bulk schedule option so I could set all three ACs at once instead of configuring each one individually. Still a very capable app.
App Store
This is my first smart home app and I'm genuinely impressed. Siri shortcuts work perfectly — I say 'Hey Siri, cool down the house' and my AC kicks on to my preset temperature. The automations are amazing too — my AC turns on 30 minutes before I arrive home based on a time schedule. The energy monitoring feature helps me keep track of how much power I'm using. Couldn't be happier.
Google Play
Set up both my dehumidifier and portable AC through this app in under 10 minutes total. Daily control is reliable — I adjust settings from work and they're always applied when I get home. Google Home integration was smooth to set up and voice commands work every time. Solid app for Midea appliance owners.
Google Play
The scheduling features are really well done and the energy dashboard is genuinely informative — I can see exactly how much my dehumidifier costs to run per day. Occasional slow loading when opening the app but once it's loaded everything is responsive. Overall a solid appliance management experience. Would give 5 stars if the startup time improved.
Google Play
I have multiple Midea appliances — AC, washer, and dehumidifier — all managed through this single app. Voice control with Alexa works great for the AC. The Red Dot Award-winning design really shows — the interface is clean, modern, and intuitive. Device cards are customizable and the energy monitoring gives me real insight into consumption. Best appliance app I've used.
Google Play
Dehumidifier control works excellently through this app. Real-time notifications when the cycle is complete or when the bucket is full are super helpful. The custom device cards are a nice touch for personalizing my dashboard. My main request would be a dark mode option — the bright white interface is tough on the eyes at night when checking humidity levels before bed.
Google Play
Works well for basic AC control — temperature adjustment, fan speed, and mode switching are all reliable. Sometimes the connection drops and I need to re-pair the device, which is annoying but not frequent. When I reached out to support via email they responded within 24 hours which was better than expected. Decent app for what it does, hoping the connectivity improves.

Important:
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
Once connected, appliances are controllable from anywhere with an internet connection — whether you are in the next room or on the other side of the world.
Remote Appliance Control
The core strength of the smarthome midea app is granular remote control over your connected appliances. Depending on the device type, you can:
Air conditioners — adjust temperature, fan speed, swing direction, operating mode (cool, heat, dry, fan, auto), sleep mode, and turbo mode
Dehumidifiers — set target humidity, fan speed, continuous drain mode, and bucket-full alerts
Portable ACs — control temperature, fan speed, and timer settings
Dishwashers — select wash cycles, delay start, and monitor status
Refrigerators — adjust compartment temperatures, enable vacation mode, and monitor door status
Fans, heat pumps, vacuum cleaners, and ovens — full control based on each appliance's capabilities
Every control panel is tailored to the specific appliance type, providing only the relevant controls and status information for that device.
Voice Control Integration
SmartHome integrates with the three major voice assistant platforms:
Amazon Alexa — link your SmartHome account to control appliances with voice commands like "Alexa, set the bedroom AC to 72 degrees"
Google Assistant — full Google Home integration for hands-free control across all linked Midea appliances
Siri Shortcuts — create custom Siri commands on iOS to trigger specific appliance actions or scenes
Voice control works remotely through cloud integration, so commands execute whether you are at home or away.
Smart Automations and Scenes
The SmartHome app includes a full automation engine that lets you create rules to run your appliances intelligently without manual intervention:
Time-based schedules — turn on the AC 30 minutes before you get home from work, or start the dehumidifier every morning at 7 AM
Condition-based triggers — automatically adjust settings based on temperature, humidity, or other sensor readings
Custom scenes — create one-tap shortcuts that execute multiple appliance commands simultaneously, such as a "Coming Home" scene that powers on the AC, sets the thermostat, and turns on the fan
Automations can be combined with voice assistants for a fully hands-free smart home experience.
Energy Dashboard and AI Insights
One of SmartHome's standout features is its Energy Dashboard, introduced in version 3.14.0. The dashboard provides:
Real-time energy consumption tracking for connected appliances
Historical usage data with daily, weekly, and monthly breakdowns
AI-powered insights that analyze your usage patterns and suggest optimizations to reduce energy costs
Appliance efficiency comparisons to identify which devices consume the most power
For energy-conscious households, this feature alone can justify connecting your Midea appliances to the SmartHome ecosystem.
Customizable Device Cards
SmartHome features a customizable device card system that lets you personalize how each appliance appears on your dashboard. You can rearrange cards, choose which status information is displayed at a glance, and quickly access the controls you use most frequently. The device card system was redesigned in version 3.15.1 with improved visual layouts.
Multi-Brand Support
While SmartHome is Midea's official app, it supports appliances sold under multiple Midea Group brands worldwide:
Midea — the flagship brand with the widest range of connected appliances
Pelonis — portable ACs, fans, and heaters popular in North America
Comfee — air conditioners and dehumidifiers available in Europe and North America
Master Kitchen — premium kitchen appliances in select markets
Artic King — window and portable air conditioners
MDV — commercial and residential HVAC systems
If your appliance displays a "Works with SmartHome" or "Works with MSmartHome" label, it is compatible regardless of which Midea sub-brand it carries.
Wearable Support
SmartHome extends beyond your phone with native support for:
Apple Watch (watchOS 9.0 or later) — quick glance at appliance status and basic controls from your wrist
Wear OS 2+ (Android watches) — similar wrist-based control for Android users
This is particularly useful for quick temperature adjustments or checking appliance status without pulling out your phone.
