Introduction
GV-Eye — GeoVision's Official Mobile Surveillance App for Professional IP Camera Systems
Managing a professional surveillance installation from your phone shouldn't mean compromising on functionality. GV-Eye is the official mobile application developed by GeoVision Inc. for iOS and Android, purpose-built for remote monitoring of GeoVision IP cameras, NVR/DVR systems, GV-VMS, SNVR, and Recording Servers. The app delivers live remote viewing, video playback with timeline navigation, two-way audio, PTZ control with presets, fisheye dewarping, and multi-channel display supporting up to 16 cameras per page — all from your smartphone. With over 100,000 downloads on Google Play, a 4.3-star rating on the App Store, and a 2.5-star rating on Google Play, GV-Eye serves security professionals, system integrators, and businesses who rely on GeoVision hardware for their surveillance infrastructure.
Live Remote Viewing with Multi-Channel Layouts
GV-Eye provides real-time live video from your GeoVision devices directly to your smartphone. The app supports multi-channel layouts from 2 to 16 cameras per page with 6 swipeable pages, allowing you to monitor up to 96 camera feeds in earlier versions and up to 320 channels in v3.5.1+. Whether you're overseeing a warehouse, retail store, office building, or campus, the flexible grid layouts let you keep eyes on every angle simultaneously.
Video Playback with Timeline Navigation
Beyond live monitoring, GV-Eye offers video playback with an intuitive timeline navigation bar and speed control. Scrub through recorded footage to review incidents, export snapshots, and verify events — all directly from your mobile device without needing to access a desktop workstation. Playback retrieval is optimized for GV-VMS connections for faster access to archived video.

What devices work with GV-Eye?
GV-Eye works with GeoVision IP cameras, NVR/DVR systems, GV-VMS (Video Management Software), SNVR, Recording Server, UA-XVL/XVR/SNVR devices, fisheye cameras, and PTZ cameras. The app is designed exclusively for GeoVision surveillance products.
How do I connect GV-Eye to my GeoVision device?
You can connect via manual IP/port entry by inputting your device's IP address, port number, username, and password. Alternatively, use QR code scanning through the GV-Relay paid service for simplified setup. You can also import devices from an address book for quick access to multiple sites.
Does GV-Eye support PC or desktop use?
GV-Eye is a mobile-only app for iOS and Android. There is no dedicated desktop version. For PC-based remote viewing, GeoVision offers GV-Remote ViewLog for Windows and the full GV-VMS software for centralized management on desktop workstations.
Why does GV-Eye crash or become unresponsive?
Update to the latest version (v3.5.1+) which fixes responsiveness issues, including a bug where camera names with full-width special characters caused the app to freeze. Also ensure your device meets the minimum OS requirements: iOS 13.0+ or Android 9.0+. Restarting the app and checking your network connection can also resolve stability issues.
Does GV-Eye support two-way audio?
Yes, GV-Eye supports two-way audio on compatible GeoVision cameras that have built-in microphones and speakers. The feature allows real-time voice communication through the app during live viewing sessions.
What video codecs does GV-Eye support?
GV-Eye supports MJPEG, H.264, and H.265 video codecs with hardware decoding enabled by default for single-view mode. The app can handle resolutions up to 4000×3000. H.265 hardware decoding was added in v3.1.1 and is recommended for bandwidth-efficient remote viewing.
Is there a desktop version of GV-Eye?
No, GV-Eye is mobile-only for iOS and Android. For Windows desktop remote viewing, use GV-Remote ViewLog. For full video management on PC, use GeoVision's GV-VMS software which provides comprehensive camera management, recording, and playback capabilities.
How many cameras can I view at once in GV-Eye?
GV-Eye supports up to 16 cameras per page in a multi-channel grid layout. With 6 swipeable pages, you can organize and quickly access a large number of feeds. Version 3.5.1+ expanded total channel support from 96 to 320 camera channels.

Version 3.0.0 fixes the GUI lag that was present in the previous release. The app is now acting great like it was three or four versions ago. Easy Mode makes setup much simpler for new users. Finally a solid update from GeoVision.

Changelog
v3.5.1 — Nov 20, 2025
Fixed GV-Eye becoming unresponsive when camera name contains full-width special characters
Improved playback retrieval for GV-VMS V17.4.5 or earlier
Expanded Live View support from 96 to 320 camera channels
Works well and never crashes or fails on my iPhone 8. The fisheye dewarping feature is really useful for our 360-degree cameras. Connection is stable and reliable for daily monitoring.
App Store
I've been using this app since it came out. I'm a GV installer, so all my customers use this app. High resolution cameras come through great, there's a playback feature and pinch and zoom is awesome. And you can do multiple sites with the same app.
App Store
After the v2.9.2 update fixed the black screen issue on iOS 16.1, the app is working well again. Live view and playback are solid features for monitoring our GeoVision cameras remotely.
App Store
The app works for basic monitoring needs. Would like to see the app optimized to use more screen space for larger iPhones. An automatic refresh when returning to the app would be helpful. Apple Watch support would be a welcome addition.
Google Play
Great app for monitoring our office security cameras remotely. Easy to set up with QR code scanning and the multi-camera layout is perfect for keeping an eye on multiple locations at once.
Google Play
Works well with our GeoVision NVR system. The playback feature is very useful for reviewing incidents. H.265 support keeps the bandwidth usage reasonable even with high-res cameras.
Google Play
Reliable app for our small business surveillance setup. PTZ controls are smooth and the snapshot feature comes in handy. Would appreciate faster initial connection times though.
Google Play
Does the job for remote viewing of our GeoVision system. The interface could use a modernization but the core functionality of live view and playback works as expected.
Google Play
Been using GV-Eye for years with our warehouse cameras. The fisheye dewarping is excellent and the address book feature makes switching between multiple sites very convenient.

PTZ Control & Fisheye Dewarping
For GeoVision PTZ cameras, the app provides full pan, tilt, zoom controls with preset positions, focus adjustment, and speed control. GeoVision's 360° fisheye cameras benefit from built-in fisheye dewarping, transforming the circular fisheye image into standard rectangular views for practical monitoring. These features give operators full command over camera positioning without touching the physical hardware.
Two-Way Audio Communication
GV-Eye supports two-way audio on compatible GeoVision cameras equipped with built-in microphones and speakers. Use it to communicate with visitors, issue instructions to staff, or respond to security events in real time — transforming passive surveillance into active situational management.
H.264/H.265 Hardware Decoding
The app supports MJPEG, H.264, and H.265 video codecs with hardware decoding enabled by default, delivering smooth playback at resolutions up to 4000×3000. H.265 support significantly reduces bandwidth consumption while maintaining high image quality, which is critical for remote viewing over cellular networks.
Easy Mode & QR Code Connection
GV-Eye's Easy Mode simplifies camera management for users who don't need the full professional interface. Device connection can be set up via manual IP/port entry, QR code scanning (through the GV-Relay paid service), or address book import. Easy Mode also supports timeline playback and device name changes for streamlined day-to-day operation.
