Introduction
CamHi is a free network camera viewing and management app developed by HiChip (listed under developer name "franck" on Google Play and "琦 赵" on App Store). With over 1 million downloads on Google Play, CamHi has established itself as one of the most widely used IP camera companion apps for HiChip-based and HiP2P-compatible network cameras worldwide.
What Is CamHi?
CamHi is a mobile application designed for remote viewing and management of compatible network IP cameras. It connects to cameras using HiP2P (Peer-to-Peer) technology via UID identification, allowing users to monitor their homes, offices, shops, warehouses, and other spaces from anywhere with an internet connection. The app supports a broad range of camera types including indoor Wi-Fi cameras, outdoor PTZ cameras, bullet/dome IP cameras, and 4G cellular IP cameras.
CamHi is part of the wider HiChip camera ecosystem, which also includes the desktop HiP2P Client software for Windows and Mac, enabling centralized multi-camera management of up to 128 network video devices from a single workstation.
Live Video Monitoring — Real-Time Remote Viewing
The core function of CamHi is real-time live video streaming. Once your camera is connected to your network and added to the app via its UID code, you can view live video feeds from anywhere. Key live viewing features include:
Real-time HD video — Stream live video from your IP camera in real time
PTZ control — Pan, tilt, and zoom control for supported motorized cameras
Digital zoom — Pinch-to-zoom on live feeds for closer inspection
Multi-camera support — Add and manage multiple cameras in a single app
Day and night vision — Automatic IR night vision switching for 24/7 monitoring
Snapshot and Recording
CamHi allows you to capture snapshots and record video directly from the live feed:
Open CamHi, tap the '+' or 'Add Camera' button, and enter your camera's UID code (found on the label on the camera or its packaging). You can also scan the QR code if available. Enter the camera's password (default is often 'admin') and tap 'OK' to connect.
What cameras are compatible with CamHi?
CamHi works with HiChip-based and HiP2P-compatible network cameras. This includes many OEM Wi-Fi cameras, PTZ cameras, bullet/dome IP cameras, and 4G cellular cameras that use the HiP2P protocol. Check your camera's documentation for CamHi compatibility.
Does CamHi require a subscription or payment?
No. CamHi is completely free to download and use with no subscription fees, in-app purchases, or cloud storage charges. All features are available at no cost. Recording is done locally on the camera's SD card.
How do I connect my CamHi camera to Wi-Fi?
Open CamHi, go to your camera's settings, select 'Wi-Fi Setting', choose your home Wi-Fi network from the list, enter the password, and tap 'OK'. The camera will disconnect from Ethernet or hotspot and reconnect via Wi-Fi. Make sure your router uses 2.4GHz.
Can I view my CamHi camera on a computer?
Yes. Download the HiP2P Client desktop software for Windows or Mac. It supports centralized monitoring and control of up to 128 network video devices. You can also access some cameras via web browser, though features may be limited.
Does CamHi support RTSP streaming?
Many CamHi-compatible cameras support RTSP, allowing integration with third-party software like iSpy, Agent DVR, Blue Iris, and Synology Surveillance Station. Common RTSP URLs are rtsp://<camera-IP>/11 (main stream) and rtsp://<camera-IP>/12 (sub stream). RTSP availability is model-dependent.
Why can't I connect to my camera remotely?
Ensure your camera has internet access and is powered on. Check that the UID is entered correctly. If the camera works on local network but not remotely, your router may be blocking P2P connections — try enabling UPnP or setting up port forwarding. Also ensure the app has network permissions.
What SD card does CamHi camera support?
Most CamHi-compatible cameras support micro-SD/TF cards. Maximum capacity varies by model, commonly up to 64GB or 128GB. Use a Class 10 or higher speed card for reliable recording. Format the card through the app or camera settings before first use.
How do I reset my CamHi camera?
Locate the reset button on your camera (usually a small pinhole on the body). Press and hold it for 5-10 seconds until you hear a tone or see the indicator light change. The camera will return to factory default settings. You will need to re-add it in the app.
Can I set up motion detection email alerts?
Yes. In CamHi, go to your camera's settings, find 'Alarm Setting' or 'Motion Detection', enable it and set sensitivity. Then go to 'Mail Setting' to configure your SMTP email server. When motion is detected, the camera will send an email alert with a snapshot.

I have used this app on a previously owned camera. I was hoping with this camera it would use a different app. I would prefer to have app with a password to log into camera. I have my smartphone locked but would also prefer the app be locked as well. The other issue is the rotation movement is choppy.
Works well for basic monitoring. The live feed is reliable when on the same network and the PTZ controls are responsive enough for home use. Setup was straightforward once I figured out the UID system. Night vision quality is decent for an affordable camera.
App Store
Good basic camera app that does what it says. Real-time video works, snapshots are useful, and SD card playback is handy. I wish the UI was more modern though, it looks like it hasn't been updated in years. Motion alerts sometimes come late.
App Store
Reliable for what it is. I have two outdoor PTZ cameras connected and can monitor my driveway and backyard. The 4G camera support is a plus for my rural property where Wi-Fi doesn't reach the barn. FTP upload works great for archiving footage.
App Store
Functional app with a wide range of camera settings. RTSP support is a big plus if you want to integrate with Blue Iris or iSpy. The app itself is a bit clunky but gets the job done. Email alerts via SMTP work reliably once configured.
Google Play
Great app for HiChip cameras. I have 4 cameras running and can view them all from my phone. The UID pairing makes adding new cameras very easy. Picture quality depends on the camera hardware but the app handles the streaming well.
Google Play
Does the job for basic home monitoring. Live view works most of the time, and I like that I can download clips from the SD card directly. The interface could use a refresh but the core functionality is solid for a free app.
Google Play
Been using CamHi for 3 years with multiple cameras. Very reliable, never had a major issue. The PTZ control works smoothly and the night vision is clear. I recommend it for anyone with HiP2P compatible cameras.
Google Play
Good free camera app. I use it to watch my shop when I'm not there. Motion detection sends alerts to my phone and I can check the live feed immediately. The SD card playback with timeline makes it easy to find specific events.
Google Play
Works well enough for the price. Setup through UID was simple, and I appreciate the ONVIF support for my NVR integration. The app design is dated and could use improvement, but technically it's functional and reliable.
