Introduction
Aqara Home App — Your Complete Smart Home Automation Hub
The Aqara Home app is the official mobile application developed by Shenzhen Aqara Software Service Co., Ltd. for managing the entire Aqara smart home ecosystem. Available on both iOS and Android, the Aqara Home app acts as a centralized control hub that lets you monitor and control Aqara smart home devices from anywhere with Internet access. With a comprehensive device ecosystem spanning smart locks, cameras, sensors, switches, and hubs, Aqara has become one of the most popular HomeKit-compatible smart home platforms worldwide.
Why Choose the Aqara Home App?
The Aqara Home app stands out for its deep Apple HomeKit integration — a key differentiator from competitors. Users can set up devices in the Aqara Home app and seamlessly expose them to the Apple Home app for Siri control, HomeKit automations, and secure remote access through Apple's encrypted infrastructure. The app also supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings, making it one of the most cross-platform compatible smart home apps available. With the addition of Matter protocol support, Aqara devices work across virtually any modern smart home ecosystem.
Comprehensive Device Control & Monitoring
The Aqara Home app supports over 50 device types across multiple categories. The Aqara Camera Hub G2H Pro and G3 combine Zigbee hub functionality with security camera features, while the FP2 Presence Sensor uses mmWave radar for zone-based human presence detection. Smart locks like the U100 and U200 offer fingerprint, PIN, and Apple Home Key access. Environmental sensors monitor temperature, humidity, and air pressure, while security sensors detect water leaks, motion, vibration, and door/window openings.

Yes, the Aqara Home app is completely free to download and use. There are no mandatory monthly subscription fees. All core features including device control, automations, scenes, and sensor monitoring are free. Optional cloud storage plans are available for camera models, but the app itself and all automation features remain free.
Does Aqara Home work with Apple HomeKit?
Yes, Aqara Home has one of the deepest HomeKit integrations available. Most Aqara devices are HomeKit-compatible and can be exposed to the Apple Home app for Siri control. The app even offers a HomeKit mode on iOS that lets you skip Aqara account registration and add devices directly to Apple Home. You can still use the Aqara Home app for advanced configuration like firmware updates and camera settings.
Does Aqara require a hub?
Most Aqara sensors, switches, and accessories use Zigbee 3.0 protocol and require an Aqara hub (such as the M2, M3, E1, or Camera Hub G2H Pro) for connectivity. WiFi-based devices like the FP2 Presence Sensor and some smart locks connect directly to your network without a hub. The hub acts as a bridge between Zigbee devices and your home network, enabling remote access and automations.
Is Aqara compatible with Alexa and Google Home?
Yes, Aqara devices support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant through the Aqara Home app. You can use voice commands to control lights, switches, smart locks, and other accessories. Camera feeds can be viewed on Echo Show and Google Nest Hub devices. Enable the Aqara skill in the Alexa or Google Home app to link your account.
Does Aqara support Matter protocol?
Yes, Aqara has been actively adopting the Matter protocol. The Aqara Hub M2 and M3 support Matter bridge functionality, which exposes connected Zigbee devices to any Matter-compatible controller including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. This enables true cross-platform compatibility for your smart home.
How do I set up an Aqara Camera Hub?
Open the Aqara Home app, tap 'Add Device', and select your camera model (e.g., Camera Hub G2H Pro). Power on the camera and follow the on-screen instructions for WiFi provisioning. The camera will also function as a Zigbee hub for connecting other Aqara sensors. On iOS, you can optionally bind the camera to HomeKit for Apple Home integration and Siri control.
Can I use Aqara Home without creating an account?
On iOS, you can use HomeKit mode without an Aqara account — devices are added directly to Apple Home. However, for full functionality including camera video playback, advanced automations, firmware updates, and remote access through the Aqara cloud, an account is required. Android users must create an Aqara account to use the app.
Is Aqara Home compatible with Home Assistant?
Yes, Aqara devices work well with Home Assistant through multiple integration methods. You can use the HomeKit Controller integration to connect HomeKit-exposed devices, the Zigbee Home Automation (ZHA) integration with a compatible Zigbee coordinator, or the Zigbee2MQTT project. The FP2 Presence Sensor also has a native Home Assistant integration.
How do I create automations in Aqara Home?
In the Aqara Home app, go to the Automation tab and tap '+' to create a new automation. Choose trigger conditions (time, sensor state, device event, or location), define actions (turn on lights, adjust thermostat, send notifications), and set optional conditions. Automations run locally on the hub for fast response times, even when internet is unavailable.
What is the Aqara FP2 Presence Sensor?
The Aqara FP2 is a mmWave radar presence sensor that detects human presence even when a person is completely still (e.g., sitting or sleeping). Unlike PIR motion sensors, it doesn't rely on movement. It supports zone-based detection with up to 30 configurable zones, light level sensing, and connects via WiFi without requiring a hub. It's one of the most popular Aqara products for advanced automations.

The G5 Pro outdoor cameras (PoE, not WiFi) have exceeded expectations! Love them. And the live video integration with the Home app has been excellent. Everything is consolidated with the U100 door lock too. Lights, Thermostat, sensors — the Aqara products have been working great.
Best HomeKit smart home platform by far. I have over 40 Aqara devices — sensors, switches, curtain motors, and the FP2 presence sensor. Everything just works with Apple Home and Siri. The automations are powerful and run locally on the hub, so they're fast and reliable.

Great ecosystem for the price. The temperature and humidity sensors are accurate, motion sensors are responsive, and the smart plugs work flawlessly. My only complaint is the app could use a dark mode and the graphs for sensor data need more customization options.

Switched from SmartThings to Aqara and couldn't be happier. The Matter bridge on the M2 hub means all my Zigbee devices work with every platform now. Setup was smooth and the app is intuitive for managing dozens of devices across multiple rooms.

Love the curtain controllers and smart switches for my home renovation. The scenes feature is perfect — one tap to set the mood for movie night or morning routine. The app handles multiple homes well, great for managing my office and house separately.

I use this for temperature/humidity sensors. They work great, but it's very difficult to see trends over time. The graphs auto adjust scale is too jumpy. There needs to be a third option to set the scale so you can scroll through and see data trends without the graph jumping around.

Comprehensive smart home control app. I manage 25+ devices from lights to door sensors to cameras all from one interface. The automation engine is powerful — my lights turn on based on presence detection and time of day. Highly recommended for serious smart home users.

Solid Zigbee ecosystem with great HomeKit support. The hub is reliable and automations run locally which means they work even when internet is down. Would love to see better widget support for Android and faster app loading times.

Perfect for our apartment setup. The water leak sensors saved us once already — got an alert at 2am when a pipe started dripping. Door/window sensors let us know if we forgot to close a window. Great peace of mind for a reasonable price.

Using Aqara with Home Assistant via the Matter bridge. It works well and gives me the best of both worlds — Aqara's affordable sensors with Home Assistant's powerful automation engine. The app itself is clean and well-organized for device management.

Smart Automations & Scenes
Create powerful automation rules triggered by time, sensor state, device status, or location. For example, automatically turn on lights when a Door and Window Sensor detects the door opening, or activate your security system when the last person leaves home using the FP2 Presence Sensor. Scenes let you control multiple devices with a single tap — set up a "Good Morning" scene to open curtains, turn on lights, and adjust the thermostat simultaneously.
