How do I fix the Amcrest Smart Home network error?
If you encounter a network error in the Amcrest Smart Home app, try the following steps: (1) Ensure your phone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or cellular network, (2) Restart the app and your camera device, (3) Check that your camera firmware is up to date, (4) Verify your camera is connected to your home Wi-Fi (check the LED indicator), (5) Move your camera closer to the Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength, (6) Log out and log back into the app. If the issue persists, contact Amcrest support at [email protected].
Is the Amcrest Smart Home app free to use?
Yes, the Amcrest Smart Home app is free to download and use. Core features including live view, push notifications, local microSD card recording, PTZ control, and device management are all available at no cost. Amcrest also offers optional cloud storage plans starting at approximately $2.99/month for 3-day motion-detection cloud recording. A free 30-day trial with 3 days of cloud storage is included for new users.
What devices are compatible with Amcrest Smart Home?
The Amcrest Smart Home app works with Amcrest Smart Home-branded devices including: AD110 and AD410 Video Doorbells, ASH-series Deterrent Cameras, Battery-powered Cameras (ASH21, ASH42), ASH26 Floodlight Cameras, ADL220-B Smart Lock, and Amcrest Smart Home Wi-Fi Cameras. Note that traditional Amcrest IP cameras, DVRs, and NVRs that use the Amcrest View Pro app are NOT compatible with the Smart Home app.
How do I log in to Amcrest Smart Home?
To log in to the Amcrest Smart Home app: (1) Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, (2) Open the app and tap 'Sign In', (3) Enter your Amcrest Smart Home account email and password, (4) If you don't have an account, tap 'Register' to create one. Note: Amcrest Smart Home accounts are separate from Amcrest View Pro accounts — you cannot use your View Pro credentials to log in.
Is there an Amcrest Smart Home app for PC or Windows?
There is no official Amcrest Smart Home desktop app for Windows or Mac. The app is designed for iOS and Android devices only. However, you can use the Amcrest Smart Home app on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later (macOS 11.0+) since it supports the Mac App Store. For PC users, Amcrest offers Amcrest Surveillance Pro as a desktop client for traditional Amcrest cameras and NVRs, available at support.amcrest.com.
What is the difference between Amcrest Smart Home and Amcrest View Pro?
Amcrest Smart Home and Amcrest View Pro are two separate apps for different Amcrest product lines. Amcrest Smart Home is designed specifically for Smart Home-branded devices (doorbells, battery cameras, deterrent cameras, smart locks). Amcrest View Pro is designed for traditional Amcrest IP cameras, DVRs, and NVRs. Some devices like deterrent cameras can connect to either app, but doorbells and battery cameras only work with Amcrest Smart Home.
How does Amcrest Smart Home cloud storage work?
Amcrest Smart Home cloud storage provides motion-based cloud recording (not continuous recording). Plans are purchased and managed within the app and run on 30-day cycles. A free 30-day trial includes 3 days of motion-detection storage. After the trial, the lowest plan costs approximately $2.99/month for 3-day motion recording. Cloud recordings are triggered by motion and human detection events only. You can also use a microSD card in your camera for local storage at no additional cost.
How do I share camera access with other users?
To share camera access in Amcrest Smart Home: (1) Open the app and go to the device you want to share, (2) Tap the device settings, (3) Select the sharing option, (4) Enter the email address of the person you want to share with (they must have an Amcrest Smart Home account). Shared users can view live feeds and receive notifications but may have limited access to device settings depending on the permissions you grant.
Does Amcrest Smart Home work with Alexa or Google Home?
Yes, many Amcrest Smart Home devices support Amazon Alexa integration. You can view live camera feeds on Echo Show, Fire TV, and other Alexa-compatible displays using voice commands. The device must be set up in the Amcrest Smart Home app first before linking it with Alexa. Google Home support varies by device model — check the specific product page on amcrest.com for compatibility details.

Being an Amcrest product user for years, the Smart Home app feels like a real step up. The interface is cleaner and more intuitive than the old apps. Setup was easy, and I love that you can swap cloud plans between devices to recycle your subscription. Highly recommended!

Changelog
v3.13.2 — Dec 29, 2024
Fixed an issue related to an AWS update that caused some customers to temporarily not see their devices.
Solid app for managing my AD410 doorbell and two deterrent cameras. Live view is responsive, and push notifications for human detection are accurate. Would appreciate more granular motion zone controls, but overall a reliable daily driver.
App Store
The doorbell hardware quality is great and the app handles live view well. I'd like to see family sharing features improved and better organization of recorded motion events. Setup was straightforward — just wish the app was a bit more polished.
App Store
Easy setup process, had my camera running in minutes. App works fine for basic monitoring. Would be great if alerts could specify which camera triggered them when you have multiple devices. Cloud plans are affordable compared to competitors.
App Store
Amcrest Smart Home keeps getting better with updates. The AWS fix in the latest version resolved my connectivity issues. Battery camera integration is smooth, and the cloud trial is a nice touch. Good value for money overall.
Google Play
Replaced my Ring doorbell with an Amcrest AD410 and this app manages it perfectly. No monthly subscription required for basic features — just use a microSD card. The live view quality is excellent and two-way audio works great.
Google Play
Using the app to monitor 3 outdoor cameras and a doorbell. Easy to set up and the push notifications are reliable. Cloud storage plans are reasonably priced. The only downside is the app UI could use a modern refresh.
Google Play
Good security camera app with straightforward setup via QR code scanning. I appreciate that Amcrest offers affordable cloud plans with a free trial. Motion detection sensitivity is customizable. Works well with my Alexa Echo Show too.
Google Play
Best value smart home security app I've used. The combination of free local microSD recording and optional cloud backup gives you flexibility without breaking the bank. Battery camera battery life reporting in the app is accurate.
Google Play
App works well most of the time. Occasionally takes a few seconds to connect to cameras remotely. The latest Android 15 compatibility update helped with stability. Cloud plans are fair for what you get. Decent for the price point.
