How do I add a camera to the CamHi app?

Open CamHi, tap the '+' or 'Add Camera' button, and enter your camera's UID code (found on the label on the camera or its packaging). You can also scan the QR code if available. Enter the camera's password (default is often 'admin') and tap 'OK' to connect.

What cameras are compatible with CamHi?

CamHi works with HiChip-based and HiP2P-compatible network cameras. This includes many OEM Wi-Fi cameras, PTZ cameras, bullet/dome IP cameras, and 4G cellular cameras that use the HiP2P protocol. Check your camera's documentation for CamHi compatibility.

Does CamHi require a subscription or payment?

No. CamHi is completely free to download and use with no subscription fees, in-app purchases, or cloud storage charges. All features are available at no cost. Recording is done locally on the camera's SD card.

How do I connect my CamHi camera to Wi-Fi?

Why can't I connect to my camera remotely?

Ensure your camera has internet access and is powered on. Check that the UID is entered correctly. If the camera works on local network but not remotely, your router may be blocking P2P connections — try enabling UPnP or setting up port forwarding. Also ensure the app has network permissions.

What SD card does CamHi camera support?

Most CamHi-compatible cameras support micro-SD/TF cards. Maximum capacity varies by model, commonly up to 64GB or 128GB. Use a Class 10 or higher speed card for reliable recording. Format the card through the app or camera settings before first use.

How do I reset my CamHi camera?

Locate the reset button on your camera (usually a small pinhole on the body). Press and hold it for 5-10 seconds until you hear a tone or see the indicator light change. The camera will return to factory default settings. You will need to re-add it in the app.

Can I set up motion detection email alerts?

I have used this app on a previously owned camera. I was hoping with this camera it would use a different app. I would prefer to have app with a password to log into camera. I have my smartphone locked but would also prefer the app be locked as well. The other issue is the rotation movement is choppy.

Works well for basic monitoring. The live feed is reliable when on the same network and the PTZ controls are responsive enough for home use. Setup was straightforward once I figured out the UID system. Night vision quality is decent for an affordable camera.
